Driven by pleasure and satisfaction
"Masjes mooi!", a dialect from Chris's hometown of Harderwijk for "Magnificently beautiful!" And that certainly applies to the realistic paintings he creates. His subjects are very diverse: people, portraits, animals, landscapes, etc. With stunning precision, he captures the "creamy" shapes of a soft-serve ice cream, but also the glossy coat of a horse or a cow. His paintings are recognizable by a fixed color palette of Oxide Black, Titanium White, and Van Dyck Brown. With these three colors, he can essentially paint anything he wants, although a fourth, vibrant color is sometimes added.
Chris doesn't see himself as a real artist, but more as a "maker of paintings".
Simply due to the pleasure and satisfaction that creating a painting brings, Chris Timmer can spend hours in front of his “faithful” easel, anticipating the final result that is slowly but surely beginning to take shape on the once pristine white linen. A blank canvas always invites him to create something beautiful, whoever or whatever the subject may be.
