Chris Timmer

With stunning precision, Chris Timmer captures the contours of a gladiator, literally cornering him. But also the gleaming coat of a rearing horse or the shadows of a dancer; every painting is inspiring in its simplicity. You keep looking at it.

In fact, Chris Timmer's art, like most art, cannot be captured on camera: these works have an effect on the entire space.

The core of his work

I could elaborate on what I do myself, but a columnist for a local newspaper once wrote it down so aptly that I prefer to let his version speak for itself.

Independent entrepreneur Chris Timmer is finding it increasingly difficult to perform his work as a house painter because he has had deformities in his hands for a few years. More or less out of necessity, he has to trade his thick rollers and brushes for finer brushes and a painter's palette.

It was (and is) his dream to be able to make a living from his 'painting' work. He has been drawing and painting as a hobby for as long as he can remember, but has been taking it a bit more seriously in recent years, and since then he regularly creates and sells work.

The subjects he chooses are very diverse: animals, people, portraits, landscapes, etc. What all his depictions have in common is convincing realism and the emphasis he places on beauty.

Although his works might suggest otherwise, he does not see himself as a true 'artist', but rather as 'a maker of paintings'.
